I need all the help I can get.

Here is my problem: I tried to backup my entire system to CD but instead I backed up to my hard drive and I didn’t give the file a name. Now I can’t open it to delete it and it is taking up more than 1.7 gigs of space.

I am running Windows 98 on a Pavilion PC. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

It has to have some sort of file name somewhere. Take a look around for the unusually large file. A good place to start may be the C:\WINDOWS\TEMP folder or just under C:\. Try running the backup again and take a closer look at where it backs up to.

Thanks for the response Hal9000......!

I did as you suggested: Launched the backup utility and find a large file on the C:\drive identified as RESTORE. When I open this file, I find five more identified as ARCHIVE, EXTRACT, LOGS, SFP AND TEMP. I think this is what I backed up in error but I don't know how to delete it.

I would sure appreciate it if you could tell me how to do that.

You should just be able to open your C:\ drive, highlight the file and hit delete.

Hello again HAL9000..........

I have tried to delete the backup file. Every time I try I get a screen that asks for the name of the file. It is not named so I can't provide that. The screen ask me for the path to the file. I have tried several things here to no avail. (But, I don't know much about doing that.) With each try, I get a screen that says: "No such file exists." I am trying all this within the Microsoft Backup Utility. Any other suggestions?

I do appreciate your trying to help me. Thank you very much for the interest.
