jumper setting sata hard drive

I am installing a new oem seagate baracuda 250 GB Sata HD. There is a jumper block on the back and from what I can tell the factory setting is a jumper which limits the drive to 1.5 GB. I checked the website for seagate and all they show is a jumper block and it says factory set only. I think that from the instructions if I remove the jumper it will give me the 3.0 GB setting. Is this correct? Thanks

To me it looks as though...if you hold the drive so that the jumper pins are to the left...that if a jumper is covering the two pins to the far left then the drive is set to transfer at 1.5Gb/s.

Removing this jumper will allow it to run at the full 3Gb/s.

The factory setting is a jumper on the 2 inactive pins. This allows it to run as SATA II. Leave the jumper alone unless you are installing on an old SATA I chipset that is problematic with SATA II drives - there aren't many, mostly Via.
