Laptop Cooling

hehe i decided to come back. anyway, I searched but i only found one thread that was regarding my topic. Anyway i have a dell laptop that overheats like a mofo. i opened up the laptop to check for dust and i cleaned it out, however, it still heats up a lot. it can literally burn my lap to the point that i cant stand it anymore. anyway im too lazy to type more detail but i think you get the point lol. is buying a laptop cooler worth the money spent on them? i want something that will allow me to put it on my lap. ive tried using pillows under it but after a while it heats up even more because it sucks in air from the bottom and has a vent on the side where the air escapes. is there anything i can do to put it on a surface without the worry of it overheating? it even overheats on my desk. if i put it on a pillow then it overheats to the point where it shuts down. this is just using AIM and surfing the internet so its not like im doing anything crazy with it. thanks guys

Now you know why they don't call em laptops anymore;) "Notebook" pc is the newer buzz word.

Might consider a plastic or wood chopping board like you'd use in the kitchen..

At home I have one of those lap trys that is a hard tray on the top with like a cusion underneath it. With that it's comfortable and doesn't overheat :)

for the amount of heat your getting i think it would be worth it

I have a similar thing, made by Akasa, but it's no good if you want to use the laptop on your lap.

Does it heat up even after the battery has been fully charged?

Is the entire laptop heating up, or just the transformer?

I can't speak for imbest123 but I know for sure that my entire laptop can get pretty hot during normal use, and I've seen plenty of others do the same thing, so it's certainly not uncommon.

actually, for me it worked great. i used to think my legs were on fire. now i cant even feel it. mine has to 80mm fans i think one is intake one is outtake and it movies air on the bottom of the laptop. no more overheating for me

just where that blimey fan is. all the air just collects up there or something. erg! and yes even after the battery has been fully charged. i guess i have to live with the pain. well the wood idea seems as if it would work well. sorry for the late response, ive been working. thanks guys! if anyone still has any solutions im happy to hear them =]
