Should I get that instead of the x1900xt? Cheaper and faster core clock speed. I have always trusted nVidia...

It's not all about the clock speeds!

I've not looked into the two cards in great detail, but you should check things like the number of pixel pipelines and shaders...to name a few things.

What I am really saying is that you should do an in depth comparision of the two cards and not base your judgement purely on the clock speeds.

I'd say they are about equal comparing prices. Didn't know there was a 7900GTO - it kinda looks like a slightly crippled 7900GTX.

I'd do a Google search for benchmarks and see how they compare. More than likely you'll find one might be faster in a couple games while the other will be faster in others.

They both look good but after Googling it people seem to be prefering the x1900xt. I still don't know... I will be pairing it with a Core 2 Duo system for gaming so either one should be fine.

Truthfully? The choice between the gt0 and the xt is more of a brand preferance.

A 7900GTX VS. X1900XT is about on par. With the gtx dominating in the few opengl games and the xt dominating elsewhere.

A 7900gto 512mb vs. x1900xt 512mb- the xt would be the obvious choice.

BUT

A 7900gto 512mb vs. x1900xt 256mb is more of a matter of what games and and what level those games will be played at.
So, what resolution do you play at and which games do you play?

If thats what you will primarily be using the card for, would it not be overkill and conseqently a bit of a waste of cash?

Everything runs on max using my X800GTO2 which is a fraction of the price.

I'd still go ahead and go with the X1900XT....what if you want to play more demanding games in the future?
