I am interested to make a network of 3 PCs ,1 PC having internet connection and the other 2 accessing internet from the 1st PC.

If I have a cable modem, then do I simply have to connect it with a telephone via telephone line and then connect it to the computer via ethernet cable inorder to have internet service on the computer? Then to allow other 2 PCs to have internet access through 1st PC, do I have to directly connect them to the cable modem or do I have to connect the cable modem with the DSL router and then connect the 2 PCs with the router?

Don't we have other ports on the cable modem so that we can connect the other 2 PCs with the cable modem directly?

If you have a cable modem and a cable internet connection, there ought to be no phone lines in the network. You will use either a cable modem and cable internet, OR DSL modem and DSL internet. They are two different methods of getting to the internet and are therefore redundant.

You would like gain a lot by describing the modems and hardware you already have, including the model numbers and manufacturers. If you own those devices and want to use them, tell us that. If you rent or purchased any of those modems from the cable company or the phone company, let us know that as well.

In short you will end up with a single modem connected to the internet. Ideally, that same modem will also be a router, which will allow you to connect all three PC's via Ethernet to the back of the router.
