Which one?

Almost done building a new computer and want to get the best video card in a $250-$280 range. I am looking at one of these cards, but not sure which to get. What do you think or you you have a better choice.

Yep, get the GTO. The latest buzz on the forums I frequent is that the current GTO's are simply rebadged GTX's with the clocks turned down. Shouldn't be at all difficult to crank back up to GTX speeds, and less money than a GT to boot. Hard to beat.:)

So I am pretty sure I am going to get the GTO, but need some info on how to turn the clock up. Basically I wanna get the most out of this card and would love a step by step or some sort of tutorial on how to overclock this puppy. Any links out there for this card?

I think you should get the card running at stock speeds first to see what you think of the performance. I really don't think there's a lot you could throw at it that it wouldn't handle amazingly well anyway.

In my opinion there is no need to overclock something that's giving you the performance you require anyway.

Newegg.com has dropped the eVEGA 7900GTO this blows...

Zipzoomfly still lists it, it's on backorder. Mwave has them in stock, but at $320.

Ok even eVGA has the GTO on backorder, has anyone heard when they might be back in stock? Christmas is around the corner, you think they would have anticipated and been ready. Any help or info apreciated...

The 7900GTO is no longer made... or they are making very few of them.

If it's basically a tuned down 7900GTX, it's probably just made from GPU's and memory chips that didn't quite meet standards for the higher speeds. They probably tossed aside chips like this and sold them at lower speeds. Once those have been used up, that's probably it.

That may be true, but every batch of chips by nature is gonna have some bad ones. So hopefully eVGA will get there asses in gear and start pumpin out some more of these baddies. I want this puppy sittin under my christmas tree when I wake-up.
