I just tried a program called TuneXP 1.5 and did a tweak that is supposed to accelerate system boot times. This has worked and I can see an increase in the time it takes from power on to hitting the desktop.

HOWEVER...

The programs that I have running in my system tray now take a long time to start. It's like the hard disk stops working for a period of time before it starts to load these programs.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

From what I can tell from the discription is that programs that start during boot-up are delayed to start after Windows is fully booted. So, if you had a bunch of programs in the task bar, they don't start until after the desktop shows.

Pretty much yeah.

Windows fully loads, along with a few of the startup programs and everything stops as though everything has loaded (but not everything is loaded).

After a minute or so, the rest of the programs load...including MSN and the icons for my network connections.
