OK, I'm having a maddening problem with my Logitech MX1000 Laser mouse. The mouse will work for an indeterminate amount of time (sometimes hours, sometimes 1 minute) and then the cursor "freezes" in place. It is clear that the mouse is still working, as menus and links pop up and the scroll works, but the cursor remains fixed in place. The only way to fix the problem is to reboot the computer. I have to do this 5-10 times a day.

I downloaded the latest drivers from Logitech, and even called them, but their tech support was absolutely useless (they didn't know the PS/2 port wasn't hot-swappable, if that tells you anything). Is this a BIOS issue? A video driver issue? Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Bob

Have you tried a different mouse?

I had a blue screen issue with my computer for ages and couldn't figure out what on Earth was causing it.

Remove the Logitech SetPoint drivers and I haven't seen the blue screen in months. It could well be the root of your problem. Try removing them and running on generic drivers to see if it improves.

Same here...removed the Logitech drivers and used generic and all is well.

What drivers do you suggest?

Start with the default Windows drivers. This will enable 2 buttons and the scroll wheel.

GLC you mean use add/remove programs for him to take the Logitech sofware off or Device manager to uninstall all Logitech pointing devies and then reboot or both?

I'd say both. Just let it run as a standard mouse.
