3200+ 29C, 805 50C.. Okay?

I just finished building the two PCs, and the AMD system runs very cool at 29C and the Intel system runs warm at 50C... this is okay for a Pentium D 805 right? My other one idled more around 45C... HSF is on securely.

Idling at 50C is a tad high. Is the HSF secured to the board with all 4 pins? Did you use any thermal paste, or just what was included on the heatsink? Does the case have good airflow, a couple fans?

Wouldn't 50C be very acceptable since the Presslers (mine can go up to 65C in gaming) idle in the high 50s? Anyway, HSF is extremely tight, all 4 pins all the way through, snapped in, stock thermal paste, and 1x120mm Antec fan at medium.

Ok, theres only one case fan in the sonata. And its a very low speed one too. You have to keep it at high/100 percent at all times.

Motherboard sensors do vary. What thermal monitor are you useing to measure these temperatures?

I'm using an Antec SLK1650 - a little different but same fan. It's at medium for noise issues. I'm using the BIOS sensor.

What are the complete specs of both computers?

Are both computers using the same case with the same cooling setup?

One thing to consider...temp readings aren't always accurate. I never use a temperature utility, I go by seat-of-the-pants performance. If the computer is working properly, I'm happy. But if the computer is experiencing heat related problems then I'll do something about it. Otherwise, I couldn't care less about the CPU or system temps.

I used to install those temp monitors that come with the motherboards in computers I build for others, but when the phone calls started to come in about the CPU temps being higher one day then the other or about the voltages fluctuating (most of these weren't even problems, just the utility reporting normal events) I realized that installing the utilities wasn't such a good idea. So I stopped installing them and now I don't get so many unnecessary phone calls.

Well considering that. For BIOS idle, and speed of fans. The temp is great.

BIOS idle and windows idle are two different things with intel.

I turned it on a minute ago and it said 33C and now it goes gradually up to 45-50C stable idle. I'm fine with this.

For some reason this is bothering me. It starts at 38C then goes to idle at 50C after a couple minutes. It would shut down if it got too hot, right?

Anyway one question, I have Asus Q Fan set to optimal and it stays around only 1000rpm. What can I do to make it automatically adjust as it needs to, or is that automatic?

Well..if you have q-fan on thats what gonna happen. Qfan will automatically regulate temps. If its 38c, it will turn the fan down until as you said, it gets to 50c. If it goes above 50c, it will raise fan speed until it gets to an optimal load level.

If you want best performance, turn q-fan off. Otherwise there should be a setting to adjust temperature of qfan.

Only on the A8N-VM there is a threshold setting. I'll just let it be, it should adjust if it feels it is too hot, correct? I've already sealed the boxes up for the person they are going to.

Final temps:

AMD idle: 28C

Intel idle: 46C

Seems okay to me.
