OK I really have no idea what i am doing. I am trying to build a gaming computer.

Here's what i got.

ECS RD480-A939 (1.0) Socket 939 ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 CrossFire ATX AMD Motherboard
Viper XG2 Case
maxtor 200 gb sata cables
AMD64 processor
Blue Zawn CPU cooling fan
Liteon CD/DVD drive
x800 graphics card game fx board series..

this is the trouble i am having.....

first off theres 2 cables from the Viper case that don't have a home. they are fan 2 and fan 3. they dont plug in properly to the MOBO.

secondly, it has a firewire port installed and the cables are coming out. they also have no home.

the USB ports on the case come with a solid 4 pin prong to plug in...Not sure if those are installed properly on the mobo.

am i better off bringing this somewhere to have them do the installation?

also if i got it working, what do i do next. how do i install the bios....I can do the OS and all the software. that much i am capable of.

any help anyone can give would be appreciated. i am getting greyer by the minute doing this.

Those two fan cables, if they aren't the 3 pin kind that plug into the mobo, probably hook up directly to the power supply.

Does your motherboard support Firewire? It may not. If it doesn't have the internal header to plug the cases Firewire into, then just leave it unplugged.

Check with the case and motherboard manual. You might be able to find a pin layout diagram for the USB cable (case) and header (on the motherboard). You could use that to make sure it's lined up right.

It sounds like you're almost done with the installtion. I'd keep working at it. If you get it all working, the next step is to install the OS.

I am not seeing anywhere whether or not the mobo is firewire capable. it is not something i am worried about anyways. The two fan cables that are extra both have 3 pin male ends. The motherboard for the sys fan 2 and 3 are also 3 pin male ends. So that is where i am right now. is there something i can use to convert them to female. will that solve the problem. i am hoping that i am almost finished like you said.

also one other question. does the graphics card run directly from the mobo? i dont see any place to run power off it.

those two cables are coming from the front of the case. its the VIPER XG2 case. It has 3 fans to cool it. only the back fan on the case is hooked up right now.

The firewire i dont need.

also i thought of one other thing but i am sure i did it right. i plugged the sata power cable from the power supply directly into the hd. The HD came with a sata converter to 4 pin female end.

Is it possible that those two cables are from LCD display (for fan speed?) from the front of the case?

I definitely know one is for a fan. Since there is a fan in the front. I'd have to assume that the other one is for is for the LCD display

If your power supply has SATA power connectors (and it should), use those instead of any adapters.

OK thats what i had thought and did. So right now my only problem I have left to tackle is the fan issue. then it will be onto installing the OS.
