I am looking to start my firts build and pretty much decided on c2d E6400....but not sure on a good motherboard any suggestions....also not sure whether i would be happy with a nvidia 7900 or should I spend the extra $ and go with a 7950 looking to stay around a $1000 and looking to have a mid range gamer
one more thing I'm not sure what kind of case to get...whether its got enough air-flow or enough power not sure about that stuff either willing to take any suggestions on that issue also

Also I'm open to any suggestions on any other components components

Most have stuttering fingers with quad posts.
Motherboard: Asus P5b series/ pick one with the options you want
Case: look for one the you like the looks of/ buy a good PSU seperately
Is this a full system or reusing parts?

I'm gona say... go with an intel sli mobo. They are really stable and easy to setup. as for the video card go with an ATI, and get the second card when you can afford it. I just helped a friend with an intel/ATI build and was very impressed with it. You can see from my signature that I'm an AMD /Nvidia fan....

here's a thought.... DX10 cards are right around the corner.....

ATI is not SLI. SLI is only for Nvidia, and the Intel SLI boards are not that hot.
