Problems booting OS Help Needed!!

I built my Pc 4months ago and was running very very smooth and fast till now... one day the power went out and obviously the pc shuted down but then the power went on and off like 2 time and then came on again... When my pc was booting up to the Os nothing happened... It sed something like:

Verifiend DMI Pool Data...............
press any key to Boot from Cd...................

Nvidia, Corporation 2000-2005, Nvidia boot manager (something simillar)



and nothing happened

then i went to the bios and found an option that says "LOAD FAIL SAFE DEFAULTS" and selected it but when it started to boot appeared this.
MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP PROFFESIONAL
MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP PROFFESIONAL

and i had to select one of those 2... Then i had to wait like for 30 seconds to go to the Windows Xp loading screen...

now i resolved the problem with the 2 options:
MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP PROFFESIONAL
MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP PROFFESIONAL

but im still stuck with the 30seconds or more waiting for the win xp loading sreen to appear.... When it was brand new i just waited 3 seconds max

what should i do????????????

Start>Run> type msconfig
Click on the boot.ini tab and I believe you can edit it there.

Im getting the same problem again.... It wont boot in normal mode.. only if i choose load fail safe... im pissed... neighther the Lan works... what can i do about the situation... i whent to boot.ini and nothing...

Start>Run> type msconfig
Click on the boot.ini tab and I believe you can edit it there.
You can adjust the length of time before XP will boot if you follow the above steps. There is also an option to check the paths and if one of the entries is erroneous it will be corrected. If you inadvertently installed a dual boot then you will need to uninstall. If it is on a separate partition (which is likely) you can reformat that partition. Just make sure you remove the correct one

You may have corrupted system files...have you tried a Repair Install (http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm)yet?

You might also want to test the hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic utility.

nop...there isnat any problems with the wix xp files i made a fresh install yesterday.... what else could it be?

That would be my first choice followed by trying another power supply.

That's not the problem....it boots Ok in fail safe mode... i just want it to boot in normal mode... the othertime i went to ms config>boot.ini and fixed..

Run a complete scan with FREE AVG. If any partition failures or problems exist, it will show you on the log. I had that exact problem on a system several months back and used the procedures that have already been suggested. If you have diagnostic utilities at hand, try them as well, as C. suggested. In the end, it turned out to be a faulty HD. Resolve all doubt first.

I think the earlier suggestion, checking the HD with the diagnostic CD would be a good idea. A repair install of the OS may be in order if the drive is intact.

I just installed a brand new un oppened 80gig hd i had for my next rig and installed WIn xp sp2 and all but the problem is still there what can i do next?? update bios?? or what...

PSU or THE HDD are Ok so what else could be?

Clear the CMOS using the jumper.

i already did that... I ran out of passible issues...
Cleared Cmos, Cheked Boot.ini, New Hd, Ok PSU... What else...

I cleared the CMOS again and now it says this:

Updating ESCD.....Success
Verifying DMI pool data.............Update Success
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

what should i do at this point?

Clearing the cmos restores the default bios settings. Have you gone back in the bios and reset the proper boot order and made sure your hardware is properly recognized? Are you using a full MS version of XP or a copied disk?

I just installed linux to make sure (ubuntu 6.10) and the problem persists......

PSU: Raidmax pure 580w

Ive tried almost everything...

Flashed the bios......nothing
Got a new 80 gig HD......nothing
Re instaled XP pro SP2......nothing
Checked the Boot.ini file......nothing
Changed ram......nothing
Tried with a New PSU......nothing
Changed Hdd jumpers from CS to master......nothing
Changed the IDE Cables......nothing

Note: The Only way it will boot is when i Load the Fail Safe defaults in the Bios...

Wouldn't that be a kicker if it were just the battery. Why do we often overlook what may be the simplest solution?

Again... Another reason to Always have a UPS hooked up to your system since power fluxuations can cause serious damage to your computer parts. With that much power surging going on, the Motherboard might have been damaged. Might require a replacement.
