Cannot Open Demo File

This may be an easy question but sometimes when I download a demo I double click on the file and I am prompted to choose which program to open it up in. In the past I have tried my best to pick the right program but have failed every time with an error message saying that the file cannot be opened in this program. The files icon nearly always has the picture of the windows flag if this helps and the latest demo file had the extension .pce
Can anyone help!

Hello again morriswindgate. Still haven't got around to trying the stuff with the DVD-ROM. Working hard. Do you know of a common program that can read pearl.

Where are you getting this stuff from? Installable programs are distributed as .exe files or archived in one of the common compression formats (zip, ace, rar, etc). The only thing I can think of is if the particular demo needs to be moved into an existing folder to be used by a program that already exists - like if it's an addon module to a program you have already bought. Was there no "readme" on the site where you got them from?
