Need Some Reccomendations

I'm getting ready to build my first computer and I was wondering what you guys would reccommend as far as a firewall, anti-virus, or anti spyware programs... I also would prefer them to be freeware thanks

Zone Alarm for firewall
AVG for anti-virus
Adaware/Spybot S/D for malware.
There are others that are recommended but this is what I use.

I just use Avast for antivirus and Spybot for malware. I only use the firewall that's already in Windows XP but I know alot of people suggest Zone Alarm like flanzig1 did, so apparently it's pretty decent.

Depends on what your internet connection is .. if you are on a broadband connection then I'd recommend using a hardware router/firewall in conjunction with Windows firewall. For an antivirus, AVG is quite efficient for a free a/v .. for a paid a/v I'd recommend Trend's PC-Cillin.

Don't forget Spywareblaster. If kept updated, this program drastically reduces the amount of spyware/adware programs ever allowed in.
