What are these files and are they dangerous? I have tried Google and Microsoft. Cannot get any results.

They do sound suspicious .. but they may also be harmless .. upload the files to : http://virusscan.jotti.org/ and check the results.

I used to be into all this spyware detection, etc... I have an old 300mhz (I think) Celeron with spyware - it was slow as molasses. They do sound suspicious as Statica said. I would google them like this, "What is insertexehere?" - that seems to work for me.

What folder are they in - full path?

Simply type the file name into the google search box and you will get multiple results (if known).

Dropping the "Z" which could be a red herring and searching Google for "236.exe produced this result:
