I have run into a problem that I have been unable to find a solution to. I have run into this problem on two different computers one XP/Home, and one Win2000, one on DSL and one on dial-up.
Both systems have stopped accepting Windows Updates. When I go to Windows Update manually and search for updates under Express, or Custom, it comes back with a bunch that are needed. I seem to remember both systems needed about 20 varied updates.
When I click on Install there is a short delay and then it runs right down the list, and tells me that "Updates were unable to be successfully installed". It does not take the time to download any of the updates to even try to install them.
If I go in to the KB articles that are refered to and download the associated update I can install them one at a time that way. That is not going to do my client any good as they will not be able to do that. The XP/Home machine did not have much on it so I just reinstalled the operating system and that cured the problem. I don't want to do that on the Win2000 machine, and if I have seen it on two different machines within the last two weeks it is a problem that I am likely to see again. I need a solution.
One other thing. Both machines have uptodate Antivirus software. The XP/Home machine running PCC and the Win2000 machine McAfee.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
