Okay, most everyone here knows that I own a proprietary machine made by Hell's Proprietary, HP if you will. Now, my question is: can I put a separate operating system on this new hard drive and expect it to work. My guess is, probably not. My current OS is Windows ME. Can someone help me?

I dont see why you couldnt.Just partition and format the drive and load the OS (Linux,I hope).

Depending on what the new OS is going to be. If its Win 9x, then you cant have it running there as a second HDD .. windows 9x needs the OS to be on the C Drive (or master on primary IDE). Any other self respecting OS will allow you to run an OS off the 2nd drive.

I recently came into possession of Linux 5.2. How viable of an OS is this? Is it too old? I saw on price watch that there is a version 7 out, now.
