I just got a cable modem Cable is consistantly faster than the T1 where I work. I've done tests at http://www.dslreports.com So far, the T1 is more reliable though. I just went here: http://members.xoom.com/hutchij9/magic_web_engine_32a.exe and downloaded this 4.54 MB file. Time was 50 seconds. From what I understand, the cable speeds slow as new users are added, but I think I'm safe for a while.

I believe a T1 line is 1.545 mb/sec. Cable could be up to 10mb/sec. My cable modem runs circles around the T1 line at work. It helps that I am the only one on my node. I usually get about 2.5 - 3.0 mb/sec on my cable line. Here is a speed test: http://computingcentral.msn.com/topics/bandwidth/speedtest.asp .

T1 for reliability, etc. This is a "guaranteed circuit" with a 2 hour clearing time should line go down (at least with my telco). PLUS PLUS, you have a standby unit already connected to a pair and good all way to central office. That way, tech can "patch" you over to it while repairing the other. We can get called out at 3 a.m. to fix one. Try that with cable.
