Weird CPU temp...

I just setup up a E6300 with an intel DG965WH motherboard (Retail Edge package) and my CPU temps seem very high. On the stock cooler i was getting around 55 idle and 62+ on 100% load using TAT.

So now i bought an Arctic freezer 7 pro and installed it but i get almost the same readings. At idle i'm getting 53/54 and at load im hitting the low 60's.

Now i've tried to increase the cpu fan rpm but for some reason there is no possible way to do it either with a program or in the BIOS. In the BIOS the fan reads at 800 rpm with is pretty low...help? Thanks

There should be an area within your bios where you can turn off or change to auto fan control. Check near the area which shows system health/temperatures.

Next if that doesnt work out download Speedfan. You can manually change the speed yourself. The freezer 7 pro has a maximum speed of about 2500 RPM.

Remember a good cpu cooler is nothing without good case cooling. Make sure you have fresh air coming in, and that air being exausted appropriately.

Hmm...My case is completely open sitting on my desk so it has pretty good air going in and out. There is no option to disable automatic fan speed in the BIOS, I've looked everywhere. Speedfan is also not showing my the CPU fan. It only shows me 2 hard drive temperatures and thast it. Any idea what's wrong?

Sometimes you just get a bad processor that runs way too hot. I'd RMA it... my e6300 idles 42C @ stock according to Asus AI Suite.

Hm..speedfan probally does not yet reconize the chipset I suppose..

Do you have your CPU fan header connected to the 4pin PWM fan connector on the motherboard? Or is it connected elsewhere?

There is one solution, you could always get a 3pin to 4pin MOLEX fan adapter so you can directly connect the fan to the powersupply. Giving you full speed.

And no theres nothing wrong with your cpu..those temps are fine for the speed your fan is operating at. 800RPM. Full speed being 2500rpm. So I think your good.

The fan is connected to the 4-pin PWM fan connector. I'll try to get an adapter to connect directly to the CPU, I'll see what that does. Thanks alot

Ah! I finally found an alternate solution, instead of plugging the 4pin fan connector into the cpu fan thing on the mobo, I connected it to a regular 3pin on the mobo leaving the blue wire unconnected. My fan now runs at 1500 rpm instead of 800. My temperature are now 32-34 idle and 44-46 load....much better :D

Actually is pretty silent at 1500rpm. I don't know why it won't run at 2500rpm since it shouldn't be on automatic speed settings.

I used to own a freezer 7 before going to water. And surprisingly my case fans were easily heard over it. While I was running a open bench, out-of-the case setup. Having the thing on 2500RPM was a bit noticable. 1500-2000RPM is the sweet spot.

If your not overclocking, just keep it to a desired DBA level. Im usually very silent orientated as well.
