does the zalman 9700 even fit on a 680i mobo, ive heard people say they had to do some dremeling to the backplate...???

If you get the Zalman, use the ZM that comes with it.
The LED Zalman comes with a fan controller and the NT doesn't.

If you want maximum performance, definately stick to Arctic Silver 5.

About the compatibility. It really shouldnt be an issue at all. The only thing that I can think of getting in the way would be those crazy heatpipes. But the I think the zalman is raised to a height where this shouldnt be a problem.

FYI there are alot better coolers out there on the market. But as i've seen in your other thread, your getting it for a nice discount. So it should be good for the buck.

Well like I said, at the price your getting it at, its a pretty good deal. Just not for its normal retail price.

However to name a few. Thermalright Ultra 120, Sunbeam Tuniq Tower, Scythe Infinity.

I mostly go by the first hand experiance and comparisons of others when it comes to these kinda things. The best performer tends to be Sunbeam with its stock fan. But with a nice fan the thermalright usually takes the lead.
