I have Speed fan and I have pc alert 4 that was on the mobo drivers cd. Now pc alert is reading a cpu temp of 34 celuis and speed fan is reading 42 celuis. Speed fan is matching the rest of the readings like speed of the system fan and the cpu fan speed as well the system temp.

Question is which do I believe the pcalert or speedfan ?

If you wanted a perfect reading, look in the BIOS, but I would trust SpeedFan more out of those two.

I would also go with Speedfan. 42C is not bad, and note that you only get idle temps in BIOS.

Yah ever sense I got the case with the 2 fans that bring in cooler air I find even my hard drive has droped 20 degree's. It used to sit around 50 degree's or more now it sits at 32 degree's. I also have the bios set to keep the cpu at 40 so when it goes over I find the fan speeds up to bring it down to 40.

Even the BIOS does not offer a "perfect" reading. It is, however, more accurate than using software to monitor the temps.
