Hi Guys/Gals.

Is anyone else receiving a new window form AGV stating that it is no longer free from Jan 2007? I must admit, I haven't read it completly yet as it's still November, but thought I'd post whilst I was on here.

I'm therefore just curious to know whether:

a) the free version is no longer free
b) if so, whether anyone can recommend a replacement.

Cheers,
JonBoyUk

It's still free - the warning is just prompting you to upgrade to the newest version - 7.5, before 7.1, and the virus definition updates for it, are discontinued.

Find the new version, and upgrade instructions here:

I think most people suffer from the "ok, ok, next, next, finish" syndrome

Just tried to install the free version... got almost to the end of the process when a flag popped up saying that this version is not supported in windows 64...

Yet another example of hardware / software incompatibility with XP x64. 3rd party support for it never really got widespread, which is why we don't recommend it on the forums.

It's not all bad news though. I believe the free version of Avast has support for x64:
