I was all set to order the parts for my new build when i found out my supplier does not have the video card I want in stock. I was going to order a 7600GT to go in my Asus P5B and Core Duo CPU.

I don't know much about video cards and I'm not a big time gamer. Could you recommend a video card that is comparable to the 7600GT?

Thanx

You can always get a 7900GS for the same price. Instead of 12 pixel pipelines, you get 20, plus the clock speeds of the cards are pretty close as well. I have one, and I can run every game I own at max settings at 1440x900 with all the eye candy and 4x anti-aliasing no problem. I picked up mine at Best Buy on sale for $150, but they can be had for close to that. My card is a PNY, which doesnt follow the nVidia reference board. The eVGA model is probably the best 7900GS out there right now. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130056 If youre wondering, the card performs somewhere between a 7800GT and 7800GTX.

doh! Didnt see you were in Canada. 7900GS's average ~$20+ more than the 7600GT in your neck of the woods.

Are they a good product?

eVGA has great customer support compared to the other brands, thats why we recommend them. They are available in Canada. Check it out: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=21660&vpn=256-P2-N622-AR&manufacture=eVGA
