Need help please!

So I got a new CPU fan and i installed it, but it took me a lot of force to get it in there and I know I shouldn't have used that much pressure when pushing down. Anyway, I once the fan was installed I turned on my PC and it doesn't even POST. The CPU and system fans spin when i turn it on, but I only get a black screen. I'm thinking it has something to do with the motherboard or CPU because it worked right before I started installing the fan. Sysytem specs
MSI 865GM2 (socket 478)
Thermaltake PSU 430 watt W0069
2x 256mB TwinMos RAM
Celeron D (2.66 gHZ, 533 FSB)

I think I listed the relevant parts. Can anyone help to figure out what's wrong?

Are you using onboard video?

Also as a side note, I did try the out of the case test where you only use the motherboard,cpu,ram,psu, and monitor on top on my motherboard box!

no i'm using a geforce 6600GT (AGP)

Make sure it is seated properly - did it come loose? Are all your power cables connected including the 4-pin ATX 12v connector by the CPU socket?

yep everything is connected; 4 pin molex for the video card and 4 pin cpu plug. i think my problem is probably from when i accidentlly dropped the screw driver to install the fan on the motherboard. the screwdriver hit the board with the head or screwside, but i figured motherboards are pretty durable,right?

I've hit the motherboard like that accidently before with no impact on it at all, but I don't know, motherboards may be made sturdier nowadays. That is basically all the things I can think of... CPU overheating? Any burn smells or extreme heat coming from the processor? Are you sure your monitor is connected and functioning properly? Try 1 stick of RAM only, RAM can cause booting problems. Remove all of your drives, etc.

yeah i tried the out of the case test (moving the motherboard, cpu, psu, graphics card, and 1 stick of RAM out of the case), but i still get the same results. could it be when i pushed too hard on the cpu fan that the motherboard or cpu just keeled over and died?

What power supply are you running exactly?

yeah the fans on it still blow, i can see the cpu and case fans blowing, and it was working a few hours ago. it was after i installed the new cpu fan that i ran into some problems

Did you replace just the CPU heatsink fan? If so, make sure that it is blowing onto the heatsink and not away from it.

it's a zalmann CNPS 9500 and i made sure the fan is blowing in the right direction, outward toward the back of the case. i'm stumped!
