Hi,
Have a question about the software I use at work.
My workplace office uses Quickbooks to invoice customers and bill paying. On my computer in the shop, in a seperate building, I also use the same Quicken program but I use it to keep track of my venders and order parts. My boss updates my customer file to match the front office every 2 weeks. The office has no info on my venders or parts and pricing in their computers. I would like to open a customers file quickly to look at past workorders without having to log on and off which can take minutes.
My problem.
I log on to my computer every day into the "shop" using my password. If I need to access a customers file I need to log off and log onto the "office" using a different password.
My question.
What do I need to do to be able to access both databases without having to log off and on. I only have one partition on the harddrive. If I repartition the harddrive can I install the program on both of them and run them both at the same time? Or maybe install another harddrive and put the program on both drives and be able to run them both?
I asked my boss if there was a way to do this with just the one program and he said no.
Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks

Don't know if this would work but I'll throw it out. If you're using XP, you could set up a separate User Account that you would use for accessing the customer info/data base. Log in using a different ID than the one you use for the vendor info. When you need to alternate between the two programs/user names, simply use the Switch User function. That way you can leave all programs open in both User names.
