I'm eccpecially worried about how the motherboard will be, eccpecialy when I decide to OC at some point in the future.

You forgot your VIDEO CARD. SAPPHIRE X1900GT is a great starter. Rest looks good.

X1900GT in my opinion just seems out of style when it comes to performance/price - have you looked at the X1950PRO or the 7900GS?

Yeah, but it's on sale right now with free shipping. It's the deal of the day.

I was planning on an EVGA 7950GT

If that's the case, then I'd bump my PSU to at least a 600 watter. Seasonic's got some good ones. Good luck with your build.

With the Seasonic 600wat the thing becomes to expensive. Are there any decent mobos for OCing in the $100 range?

500 watts should be just fine, especially with Fortron PSU. I am getting the evga 7900 GS with a 400w Fortron.
I do believe the Asus you are planning on is good for overclocking.

Silverstone ST50EF 500W (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817256001) $87.50
This should power your setup fine.

So 500 watts will power it?
TimPoet

Well, let me retract my statement, GLC is questioning at the moment the wattage of my unit on another thread, so the verdict is out regarding my current build.
As for yours, however, 500w from a Fortron should be plenty.

Easily with room to spare. This is assuming your going for the 7950GT.
I would take the Silverstone over the FSP as the FSP is dated and not up to par with the Silverstone.

And it's priced better than the FSP.

What puts the one you reccomended abouve the fortron?
Sorry, not trying to be a jerk, just wanna make sure I get the most out of my money:D

Seasonic units are very quiet and efficient - as are FSP units, in my opinion. You won't lose no matter WHICH one you pick. :)

what about the silverstone
Mr.Ferrari
12-03-2006, 04:50 PM
^^He means silverstone.
That particular FSP is actually the best unit as far as quality is concerned-that they have ever made.
However it is showing its age. There are newer more beefier psu's out now that have higher effciency and more juice.
Based purely on that I would take that silverstone over that fsp. Few bucks cheaper too.

I'd go with Mr. Ferrari's suggestion and get the Silverstone (lol) unit. It matches your case, too.

Alright. Will do:D
Just one more question about it. It looks like the P180 has trouble with some PSUs wires not being long enough. Will the silverstones wires be long enough?

You should be fine.

Alright. cool.
Should I expect any OCing problems with any other parts?

What you have is good for overclocking. Remember, your first priority is getting the system working first.
One last thing, get a kit of 2x1gb for memory - leaves room to grow. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145590

Costs too much. 4X512 is about 30 bucks cheaper.
Alaron
12-03-2006, 06:08 PM
Thats fine, XP has issues with more then 3GB anyway. 2GB will be plenty.
PricklySponge
12-03-2006, 06:16 PM
What kind of issues?
newbuilder14
12-03-2006, 06:17 PM
It cannot make use of more than 3gb of memory. And where are you getting the idea that 2x1gb is more expensive? Actually, it is about $10 cheaper after mail-in-rebate.

I've heard bad things about corsairs rebate program

It is totally up to you, if you feel you'd like to use all your memory slots with 512mb, you will have no room to upgrade when Vista comes around. :D That is what I am doing, too, by the way, since I couldn't afford 2x1gb at the time.
