This is going to be my first time building a computer, and I'm going to follow the instructions on this site. However, before I order my parts, which come to a little over two grand from newegg, I want to make sure that this system will run games like Oblivion on full settings all around and anti-aliasing and still maintain smooth framerates, with slowdowns rare at best. That having been said, I'd really appreciate any hardware suggestions or compatibility issues.

If you want best possible performance, you might consider a Core 2 Duo system - even the lower end ones are matching the performance of the higher end AMD's.

You won't need the network card as the motherboard has onboard networking...

Unless you are overclocking I would stick with a retail CPU - AMD has a good cooling device in my opinion. Also, that HSF you have chosen puts out green light anyway - in your already blue case. :)
