Hi,
Does anybody know of anywhere where I can get the AMD X2 5000+ 939 socket? Online prefferably?

Thanks

I am pretty sure they don't make an x2 5000+ for the 939 socket. Highest is x2 4800+ I believe.

Socket 939 is coming to the end of it's life.

The X2 5000+ is only available as Socket AM2!

You'll be quite lucky to find any dual cores for socket 939 now. Their prices were cut dramatically when Intel released the Core 2 Duo, and as a result they were snapped up.

If you're going for a new build now, it makes most sense to go Intel.

If you decide to stick with AMD, you may as well go with the AM2 socket and get the mobo to match...it's expensive, but it will allow you to upgrade processors even after AMD comes out with the C2D competitor, but it won't work the other way around...ie an AM2 board will work with an AM3 chip, but not AM3 board w/ an AM2 chip.

But as was said, go with C2D if you are in a hurry.
