This is my first attempt at building a computer. I am planning on using this computer for
gaming, some video, and possibly some pictures. My main concern now is getting the tower
built. I have peripherals on other computers that iI can use for now. The following is the
parts list that I have come up with. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated

OS: Windows XP Pro x64 w/ Vista Upgrade
PSU: Antec Smartpower 2.0 SP-500
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4 GHZ BX80557E6600
Video Card: eVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640-P2-N821-AR
HDD Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3500630AS 500GB
Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 ST3250824AS 250 GB

I am wondering one if all of the parts are compatible and secondly I am wondering if the PSU
is large enough for the system

Not a bad list...

A couple things I will point out though, the PSU is a little on the light side for a single g80 card, it will just run your system, but there is no room for expansion. It takes a pretty powerfu PSU to do SLI 8800's.
Look at the Corsair, Seasonic or Silverstone or Thermaltake PSU's

The memory your looking at is well.... again so so. Corsair use to be pretty good memory, then they starting using ProMos IC (not so good chips). Once again they will run at stock speeds, but there is no room for OC'ing.
Look at Crucial Ballastix or G. Skill.

I suggest a Lite-on for your optical

Modem? are you not get DSL or Cable?

If your not networking, you don't need XP Pro.

Skip that motherboard. If you want sli with intel only look for the 680i chips. I suggest the Asus P5N32-E SLI.

If your going SLi you will need a much beefier powersupply. BUT if your not going sli I would suggest this powersupply:

Are you sure you want XP x64? Driver support is pretty bad..........

No I'm really not. My research on the processor stated it had 64 bit capability so I thought
I would install a 64 bit OS but that was the only reason I picked that. I have std windows
xp pro on two of my other computers.

I would stick with standard XP till you are ready to upgrade to Vista.
