I have basically forgotten about popup adds (not discussing spyware here) as I had Norton Internet Security block them, but something the Firefox blocker just isn't enough for sites that use advertising websites like CasaleMedia, TribalFusion, etc. So I was wondering what software you guys used if any and hopefully you all could lend me some advice as to how to prevent the majority of these ads. Thanks very much.

I just use Maxthon for my browser. Haven't had a popup in a long time.

CookieWall
CoolWebShredder
IE Spyad (http://www.spywarewarrior.com/uiuc/resource.htm)

I think I will go with Alaron's suggestion, because Cricket you too seem to have used the Hosts file mod. Thanks everyone.

Wow Alaron, thanks so much for that. It actually worked!

Hmm... not sure why, but Firefox shows Page Cannot be Displayed in each of the sections where an advertisement would normally be. Can you stop this?

Just one more suggestion.
I used the Firefox 'block site' for CaSalemedia, TribalFusion, etc. and it works.

Hmm... not sure why, but Firefox shows Page Cannot be Displayed in each of the sections where an advertisement would normally be. Can you stop this?Sure...remove the modified HOSTS file. But seriously...you're getting those "cannot be displayed" messages because the HOSTS file is doing it's job. Why do you want to look at ads for anyway? I hate 'em.

I do too but seeing the Cannot be Displayed message is also annoying. I will just live with it.

Use the adblock extension for firefox. When you see the cannot be displayed message, right click it and then say adblock this frame.
