I have not found a good answer for my unpopulated Device Manager--it is completely blank.
I am running XP Pro.
Anyone have any suggestions from past experience?
System Restore, even going back to my oldest Restore Point didn't return DM, nor did a Registry checker/repair utility.
MS KB has my chasing my tail to no good end...

Yes.
Onboard graphics, for instance, and some unsigned, such as USRobotics network adatapter.

I haven't tried reinstalling motherboard drivers, as, quite frankly I cannot connect--mentally--MB drivers and an unpopulated DM (everything else is hunky-dory).
It doesn't matter if I get there via the MMC, msinfo32, or the hardware tab...it always comes up, but the window is blank (same if I vary device-by-type/device-by-connection/etc).
It's a puzzler.
BTW-yes, used Blacklight/anti-virus/spysweeper and got nothing but 1st-party cookies.

Yessir, I agree, and I did that first.
a) hotfix already applied
b) Plug and Play running on Automatic startup
Still blank, that's why this thread.
Did you try this?

XP Home will require you use safe mode.

Try booting to Safe Mode and see if the Device Manger is populated there. If so, chances are you have something in the Startup area that is doing this. Do an online scan at www.ewido.net and see if that helps. Also, read this link where someone had the exact same issue.

That's the next link down in Google.
