Hi all,
I'm looking for an audio player that is similar to winamp, that will work under win2k. Any Suggestions? TIA.

From my Linux machines, I use a windows port of Freeamp (www.freeamp.org)
Its very small, clean interface and doesnt clutter up your registry with crap, does what its supposed to - play multimedia, and it does it very well at that.

Floppyman, just a question, whats wrong w/ winamp?
I use it under win2k, it works great for me, just wondering why you dont want to use it.

It sometimes pops at random. Also when I load an intensive program like wcpuid it pops/scraches for a second. Now I have tried freeamp and sonique and both do the same. The only player so far that does NOT do this is M$'s very own Media Player.

A lot of Winamp's ills can be fixed by the cpu priority bar. Go to preferences/options and on the first screen there is a slider bar near the bottom called "process priority class". Change this to realtime and it should solve your problems.

Thanks Carl...
Changed it to both "high" and "realtime" and it still scratches for a sec when a program like wcpuid is loaded. Any other ideas? Thanks again.

I use the Nero Media player, have none of the problem's you describe, on w2k. Don't know if it's free, but I received it with my Nero software. HTH.
