Hey guys,

How do I set Firefox/QuickProxy (linux only thing?) up so Firefox uses an anonymous proxy to connect? I would like to be able to surf the web and not let anyone know what OS I am using, my IP, what browser I have, or anything else about my computer. However, I am a complete proxy newbie and dont know what to do. I\'ve got it working a couple times with proxies I found on random sites, but it has made surfing DEATHLY slow.

Can anyone please help me set up Quick Proxy? Suggest fast proxies?

Thanks,
Bushmaster

You can go to www.theproxyfree.com and just surf from there. It will have an adress bar and you just move through the window while the address bar on your browswe just shows the proxy free url.

The slow browsing is just the price you will pay for the added overhead when configuring you browser that way.

You can not prevent a web page from knowing your IP address and ISP without using a third party proxy. The rest of the info, like screen resolution, OS, browser type, referral link etc can be "hidden" by disabling your browser's Javascript. You are not surfing anonymously even through a third party proxy, either, because the proxy site is logging your IP address and so forth. In a perfect world, the stats a webmaster sees helps to hone the site for functionality. If you are concerned about your privacy to the point that you are willing to suffer through the lags of a proxy, perhaps you would find it easier to use a public computer at the local library?
