Ok, I built my first computer over the summer. My main reason for building (besides for actually wanting to build my own) was because both of my families computers are downstairs in an office with none in my room.

I kind of rushed the "buying" phase as much as possible, so that I could get it built even quicker. So while I love the computer it's not what I truely wanted.

Now it's xmas time, I'm in line for some money, and I stopped playing video games so I don't spend much on them any more, and I have this urge to go and start building another one, taking my time to buy the exact parts I want.

Do you think it's worth it? Or should I just stick with what I have which is pretty decent, well, atleast compared to the 1.X ghz 256 MB Dell I had been using.

Can we see the specifications of the current one before we advise on upgrading/replacing?

Ummm, I'm lazy and about to go out for xmas so I'll give you just a generic run through and get specific later.

2.2 ghz amd athlon 64 processor (am2 socket)
1 gb ram (pgi?) 2 512's it is
Radeon x1600 pro
250 gb hdd and a dvd burner

I don't want to really "replace" it. I'm going to college next year so I figure I'll just leave both of um in my room and be super geeky, then when I go away take the new one and bestow the old one as a gift to my father so that he can stop using the 700 mhz 128 mb ram one he has lol.

Like I said, it's not horrible, but I'd like to save for a better processor/vid card and then I wanted to replace like every cable/fan I have in this computer because it all stock stuff....so I figured why not just build a new one.
