So searching and finding good names for AV or spyware removal is great.
However, when you enter them in google or another search engine; you get all these results...
How does one tell if one is a legit link? I notice even fake ones will want you to pay for them.

The best way to go is to download directly from the programs website.
AVG: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
Spybot: http://www.safer-networking.org/
Ad-Aware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php

But that's my point, unless someone posts the actual link, how does one know?
Is there a website which would point to legit links to legit programs?

You really don't. So instead you google who made the program, and get it there.

If you ever have any doubts, just ask here. I've assembled a pretty good list of legit, good programs listed on this page: http://www.pcmech.com/show/internet/976/9/

Nice list.
For instance I was looking at Nod32 and google came up with a whole bunch of webpages. I'm not really looking for myself but that page was what I was thinking of. Thx.
