Yes, you should be able to. The WRT54G also support operating in "B" wireless mode, I believe.

you just have to make sure its in B/G mixed mode, because the wrt54g will allow you to use only B and only G signals. as long as its in mixed mode, you will be fine

The router's default setting is Mixed mode so unless you change it during setup, it will work fine.
