Hey guys, long time no post.

Long story short:

Fiance's family computer went dead. Router was wired to DSL Modem and then to that pc, and she used her laptop wirelessly. Since the death of the pc, her wireless went caput. I can connect her laptop directly to the dsl modem and everything's fine, but AFAIK there's nothing I can do to get wireless working again until she has another PC to act as the access point, correct? If I'm wrong, what can I do to gain wireless access with only the pc which I want to use wirelessly?

Recap of what we do have:
One laptop (works wired to modem directly, not wirelessly like I want though)
DSL Modem
Linksys Router

Happy Holidays!

No pc need be connected to the router in order for the wireless pc to have access. The lack of a wired computer is probably not the problem. You are going to have to supply much more information in order to get a reasonably accurate answer to your query though. You say the laptop can connect to the dsl modem and it works. The problem is most likely in the router then. Have you tried to connect the laptop by wire to the router? Please supply the model number of the router & modem and I'm sure someone can help you with your problem.

I got it working by reinstalling the router drivers and doing a whole new setup. Apparently it was setup some weird way; maybe dns or something, but regardless, it works now.
