Spam filter appliance

Greetings everyone!

Im not exactly sure where I should post this - so I hope this is good.

We recently just got a barracuda spam filter and there are a couple of different configurations as far as where the filter should go on the network - ie. in front of the firewall/ DMZ/ or behind the firewall.

Which is the best method or what are the benefits of each? Which method is the most secure?

Behind the firewall with the rest of your equipment would be fine. Outside the firewall it will be hit with all the stuff that the firewall would normally block. If you set it up correctly, the mail should arrive in either case.
