glc said, " You need ram in matched pairs so it will run in dual channel mode. " is this true so i cant just buy 1g of ram i have to buy 2 512mb? if hes right im glad he told me i was going to buy 1g and find out that it didnt work :( .
does newegg charge taxes cause it didnt say any thing if so what %?
does that power supply have all the cables i need?
It will work with a single module but at reduced performance. Newegg charges tax only when the order is going to CA, TN, or NJ. You should not need any additional cables.
Why did you start a new thread?

The first case has a lot more flash to it which could account the extra cost. As for the second case w/PSU, the PSU is probably not suitable for your build.
For a DVD drive, go for the Lite-On retail version, good drive w/software.

thanks does every thing look compatible? to me it does, but im not a pro at any of this so some advice would help alot, because i plan to buy it soon.
I'm a bit confused - exactly which case and power supply are you getting?
You do need a retail boxed DVD burner to get software.

thank for allways responding glc :D i guess ill get the
Sunbeam Transformer IC-TR-B Blue Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Retail = $84.99

the Sunbeam PSU-BKS580-US ATX 580W Power Supply 100V - 120V/200 - 240V cUl, CE, CB, FCC - Retail does it have every thing i need to power this comp?
No. It's not ATX 2.0. The only good Sunbeams are the NUUO series. There's not a 580w quality PSU in existence for 24 bucks.

Yes, everything looks fine. But if you're not going to overclock you should get DDR2 667 RAM instead of the DDR2 800.

Yes, but get dual channel memory (2x512mb in your case) and make sure you get software with your DVD burner. Also, are you sure you can't swing for a 19" LCD? They are the sweet spot right now (in my opinion), especially widescreen.

thanks for the help every one, but im still a little concerned about that graphics card the his x1950 I was planning on geting seems to have alot of problems with it and I would be happy and open to some suggestions. what would be a better choice a eVGA 512-P2-N637-AR GeForce 7950GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP KO Superclocked Video Card - Retail or a POWERCOLOR X1950PROXTR512M Radeon X1950PRO 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 VIVO Video Card - Retail i would rather get the his it has a higher core clock speed and memory speed, but it seems like theres just to many issues there has any one bought a his x1950 does it work fine?

7950gt will be faster, but the X1950Pro might produce better image quality.
The X1950Pro has been having some serious problems - just ask Freakitchen. So in this case, I'd definitely go with the 7950gt for sure.

Some of the problems with the HIS x1950 could be due to the factory OC right from the start. Don't think a few extra Hz is going to make a whole lot of difference. The Powercolor would be the next option.

ya i have talked to him, but the 7950gt isnt faster is it are u sure? but it sounds like a safer chose because it sounds like all x1950's might have problems so the power cool or the eVGA? the eVGA seems to have over heating problems beacuse of such a small fan and heat sink and one else hear that?

The 7950gt is a faster card than the X1950Pro. Google benchmarks for your specific games.
