This may seem rediculous considering the parts are near obsolete but I have a few parts laying around collecting dust. Among these are a pair of PC2700 512mb ram. I purchased (off E-Bay)an ASUS A7V333 motherboard with an Athlon 1.3 ghz CPU. I intend to build a spare PC just for media storage with an external hard drive. Upload some audio tapes I have to transfer later to CD. Maybe even play a workout DVD through it once in a while. It will not be used any regular basisi at all.
Still, It is bothering me somewhat that as far as I can tell, (becuase I don't have the actual board and CPU yet to check numbers) the CPU runs at 200 MHZ while the ram runs at 333 MHZ. So naturally I am toying with the Idea of purchasing a Athlon that runs at 333 to match the ram and then think, what am I crazy spending more money on a spare computer.

My question, does the speed loss by the ram running at 200 mhz with the CPU warrant purchasing a faster CPU, or would it be so little a difference as to not matter or worth spending money on it?. I've read a little about computer speed and timings but don't understand it well enough to wrap my mind around. I don't do any gaming at all.

Run it the way it is, it will take care of itself.
