View Full Version : DFI mobo 'Safe Boot'
My son has a DFI Lanparty UT nF4 SLI-DR mobo. It supports both AMD single and dual core 939 pin procs. Son got a dual core proc for Christmas and installed it but must do a Bios upgrade for the mobo to recognise it.
The mobo has a jumper for something called 'Safe Boot'. The manual does not describe what it does very well. I was wondering if it can be used to restore the bios, if the flash doesn't go good.
Can anyone tell me what the 'Safe Boot' jumper does?
Thanks,
Dwight

No safe boot will not fix a bad flash. It is used whenever the system fails to boot, and just kind of hangs at POST or BIOS. It is almost like clear cmos jumper but by using safe boot it may clear the problem without loosing your cmos settings. Found it in your manual on page 43, which also explains how to use it there also.

if you need to flash the bios... go to www.biosmedic.com and look for tmod's cd and burn it with nero express or a substitute...
you can boot to the cd and flash from there...just make sure you clear the cmos before and after the flash...
I let it hit the post screen and then power it off after it detects the drives...
I'll link it...

the safe boot just puts some setting back to default if you overclock to far...but keeps alot of setting saved in cmos...so you dont have to reload them over again...
the latest bios is the o4/06 bios...
