I am thinking to buy a dell xps 1710 but I am afraid that no soon after I got my 1710 dell will announce that there will be dual display card on their xps  ... Do you think/when do you think they will have such thing?

I believe that the XPS 1710 is dual display capable the way it comes. Use the internal LCD for one display and an external monitor for the second display.

Thanks glc. I know they can hook up to 2 monitors, but I mean "hardware" wise: 2 display card connected together to double the memory... not 2 monitors

one more question on video card from dell laptops... when it said 512mb gtx7950, it means there's a 512mb gtx7950 video card installed?

Because I got another laptop for my boss a year ago, when I check bios, there's just one 128mb video card inside, but on the order/parts list they said it's 256mb... I called the support and they said yes 128mb video card. When combining the video card and the one on board, you get 256mb of video memory.... I think I got fooled...?

Shared Ram. Some laptops today have their own ram and also use system ram and that is how you get the 512m of video ram.

so do I get a 512mb video card on a xps 1710? or just a 256mb with 256mb shared...?

I think in this case it is an actually 512mb of video RAM, this is a pretty high end machine. Usually if the RAM is shared it will either say "shared" or they will use workds like "expandable"
