I just built a new computer.
Gigabyte GA-7DX Mobo
AMD 1.4 GHz prosessor
256 mb of Ram
ATI All-in-wonder pro Video Card ( from old machine )
I also have two Monster 3D II cards that I use to use in the Mega Monster configuration. I would like to use them in the new machine. However when I install them and I try to change the display settings, I get an Error.
The error is CoCreateInstance Error, Class not Registered.
Does anyone know what this could be? Sometimes also when I try to open system properties to change the display settings it won't open.
Did you install the motherboard drivers off the CD? That board has an AMD northbridge, but a Via southbridge, and needs drivers.

Here is what I did when I first installed the board I installed the AMD drivers and the VIA drivers from the CD. I was having some problems and called Giga-Byte. I was told to just install the AMD Drivers and the sound drivers for the onboard sound card. I was told that there was no way to uninstall the VIA drivers but it didn't matter. But I decided to reformat the hard drive and start over since I wasn't that far into the setup.
I didn't want to use the onboard sound because I purchased the SoundBlaster X-Gamer 5.1 sound card, so I only installed the AMD drivers. I was having problems with the sound card config when I talked to creative. They mentioned that I should download the 4 in 1 drivers for VIA. But I also found out that since I have USB speakers, that I can't use the X-Gamer sound card with them. It is either one or the other. So I decided to return the sound card and keep the speakers. Money saver. I would have rather had the sound card and new speakers. Anyway, when I installed the 4 in 1 drivers I got the Monster accelerators installed, but when I tried right click and bring up properties to change the display settings it won't do anything. It won't bring up the display panel to change the background, screensaver, etc....
Since I was having these problems I started all over again!!! I now only have the AMD Drivers installed. No VIA driver or the 4 in 1 driver. Do I need to install the VIA or the 4 in 1 drivers? If I do how do I get around the no display setting screen?
Confused. I know the card has AMD and VIA setup, but why did gigabyte only tell me to install the AMD drivers?
Sorry for being stupid.
