Hello!

I have an analog tape deck hooked up to my input on my sound card. I have a few programs to capture the audio and turn into MP3 or WMA. However, all of the programs show the only input to be DIGITAL DEVICE INPUT SPDIF. Looking in the SOUND option of the control panel, and under the recording tab, it says DIGITAL DEVICE INPUT SPDIF (Working.) In it's properties, it shows the jack information as REAR PANEL RCA JACK. All is hooked up and working but I can't hear anything from the tape deck. Suggestions?

Which soundcard are you using? If youre hooking an analog device to a soundcard you will probably have to plug it into the mic-in port...since the SPDIF will only take a digital signal...not an analog one.

Depending on card/adapter, one of the standard 1/8" phone jacks may be able to operate as an analog line-in.

I had to dig really deep but I found the proper drivers and was finally able to "unmute" it. Now to find a decent audio capture program.

Audacity is free.
