Hi, before I get into my post I would like to introduce myself. My name is Brent and I excited to be joining these forums.

I was not sure where to put this so on top of my post topic I am going to ask this question. I was a member before of these forum back in 2004 but have not posted since than. When I tried logging into my account it would log in but never stay logged in. The name of this account is bertschkid. So before you guys get any idea I am using two accounts I want to let you know that it is ok if you delete that one as it does not seem to be working for some reason.

Now on to my post. :)

I have a pretty decent computer.

C2D 6600 @2.4 stock
2gigs of ddr2 800
200gig Seagate IDE
AIW x1900

Anyway so recently my computer has been pretty slow loading up programs and exiting programs browsing the web.

I always try to take care of my pc by installing a firewall(Zone Alarm), Avast!, Ad-aware SE, Microsoft Defender, Crap Cleaner, and all the other necessity's of PC computing.

Well I ran all the above programs in safemode and came up with nothing. I ran a Hijack-This scan and everything in there I was familiar with.

I ran a disk defrag even though it did not need it.

Yet, my computer is still sluggish.

I just did a fresh install of windows about a month ago.

As I am typing this my CPU Usage is between 0 and 3% and I have over 1.5 gigs of ram available. I have 35 processes running at the moment and that is pretty much the minimum for me. When I really get working I get well over 60 processes running.

But even with the low cpu and memory usage my computer still seems slow.

Someone please advise me on what I should do to get it back to normal.

What are your temps looking like on your processor/ram?

CPU is 34 C idleand never goes over 40 C full load.

I am not sure of the ram. I have a temp probe but I have to find it first.

The ram is not hot at all and it does have a heat spreader on it to help dissipate heat.
