I just received a new Garmin GPS as a gift. Like many Garmin users, I am stuck with a PC with no serial port. What is the cheapest/best way to adapt?

BTW. . .GPS is Garmin Etrex Legend.

Good chance a USB to serial adapter will work - assuming this is a laptop?

You could still try that - or get a PCI serial port card.

Don't know about GPS but my Palm Cradle is serial and I use an adapter so I can hot swap it to my laptop. Works great.

Well, thank you for the ideas. I bought the USB adapter, but I feel like the PCI card was the better choice. I bought it before the PCI card was suggested. When I read it, the light bulb went on in my head and I said. . .umh duh, that is why I always want as many PCI slots as possible! Oh well, both will probably work. The USB adapter is about $2 more expensive and, I believe it has a better chance of not being compatible from what I have read. If it works, I will post what I bought.
