Dumb question, lets say I had a 20 Gb USB diive, and I named it C:... could I tranfer Windows from my HD to the flash drive and just run it from there?
Or, would I have to replaced my HD with a HD style flash drive?
I really don't think that's going to work - but I *have* heard of adapters to hook up a CF card on IDE.

What about using a USB to IDE adapter like this: http://www.emtcompany.com/catagories/usb-to-ide-adapters.htm?gclid=CNfBjcqlgooCFQkfYAodmzHdOA
Then place a USB drive in place of the HD, and load Windows onto the USB drive, would that work?

Your usb drive is a male connector and so it that adapter. That is made to work the other way around, so you can connect an ide device on the usb port.
