Compaq Presario 900 Fan Question

I have a Compaq Presario 900,and have a couple of questions about the fans.I would like to know if the CPU fan is supose to spin when the machine is first turned on?Mine doesn't.Also, what is the little fan for in the back?I haven't seen this one move yet.Are these the only two fans in this machine?Any help is greatly appreciated!Thank You very much!

Laptop fans are generally thermostatically controlled and don't run till they need to.

Thank You for the reply.All the laptops I have used so far the fan would turn on for a few seconds when I first turned the machine on,and every once in awhile when it started to get hot.Maybe this one if different.Also,is the back fan in case it gets really hot?Thank You very much!
