Hello,
looks like my system is dead. Last night PSU died with some burning smell and I think it took motherboard with it. Nothing is showing signs of life.
I did try another good PSU, while unplugging most of the parts and still nothing.

So looks like it's time for a new system. I'll be using it for gaming(DoD:S, BF2) and some photo editing and minor video authoring.
I can re-use my case, DVD-burner, my hard drives, monitor, keyboard and mouse.
After looking around - looks like everybody is building C2Ds with ASUS boards.
Am I right that not a lot of AMD - SLI action going around?

Let me know if there are other options. I'm trying to keep it under $900 and have room for future upgrade.
Thank you

you might save some bones by looking at the Xclio PSUs. They seemed to be well liked here and they do have models with triple 12v rails and 14cm fans. I've no experience with them but for my next rig thats what i plan on using.

you can save another $25 if you used the vanilla p5b, if you can do without 7 sata ports and firewire.

Now if only my rig would get fried...envy

i did look at Xclio, they seem nice. Some of them have this weird fan noise when get powered down. Doe anyone know anything about it here?
Why I'm leaning towards Corsair - 5 year warranty. Does anyone have experience with how it works or there are loopholes for them to get out of it?

I was looking at this Xclio PSU

if I get few positive responces for them I may switch...

The Greatpower series is a very good choice. Corsair is top notch. Either one of those will get you ready for DX10 if you can drop 100+ bones on a PSU. If you are just looking to get yourself going now at minimum cost around those components, get the base P5B and an XClio 450BL.

The weird fan noise is probably the thermostatic control keeping the fan running for a minute for a proper cooldown.

Note that with any of the P5B's, you are limited to 2 IDE devices.

please post your thoughts of the sound level of the xclio. i'm very interested in seeing how a 14cm fan works out.

or if anyone else with this PSU could comment that would be great.
