I'm not that familiar with dual layer burning yet. But hopefully someone can help me...

I have some ripped movies that are too big to fit on a normal DVD-R/DVD+R...and I have dual layer burner equipped on my laptop. And now I have a few questions?!?!

- What is good software to burn large movies on to these dual layer disks? Free or Pay for License?

- When burned on to a DVD-DL disk, does it split the file apart and seperate it between the two layers?

- Can a movie be burned on to a DVD-DL disk and play on a DVD player?

Let me know...Thanks in advance!!!

You mention ripping movies - this is a grey area in terms of legality. As far as I know, it's legal to make a backup of a movie you own, but it isn't legal to avoid the copy protection on the disc. Basically, I can only help you with the mechanics of burning a dual layer disc.

If you have a dual layer DVD burner, then Nero will let you burn DLs. It will detect your disc as a DVD-9 when you insert a blank.

Most DVD players can play dual layers - this is, after all, the format that the vast majority of retail DVDs come in (DVD-10 - I believe)
